srazdan on Thursday, July 19, 2007
Priceless song and incomparable voice.

lionheart1965 on Friday, July 27, 2007
What a wording written by Nawab Wajid Ali Shah..as if he knew his
fate..when Awadh was captured by British Thugs and Nawab was forced to
leave in the early hour of the morning...his courtsinger sang this on the
street to farewell him...

jkulsh on Thursday, August 30, 2007
Nawab was a great poet but not a great ruler.

VIRASATWAJAH on Monday, September 03, 2007
nearly 25 years back srianka broadcast use to broadcast the last song of
the programme of saigal as s tradition

xmtz on Tuesday, September 11, 2007
True. It was beautifully sung by Saigal. Unfortunately, this world belongs to those who kill efficiently, not those who sing beautifully. The westerners figured out how to kill efficiently, so they took over this world.

suresh verma on Friday, September 14, 2007
One of the all time great rendition by a singer who has no match till now !

Gourang Ambulkar on Wednesday, October 24, 2007
Well said XMTZ. Indeed this is a ethereal rendition by KLS. I guess his
talents are unparalleled. No wonder, the nightingale Lata herself admits to
have been inspired from KLS and many of the later greats( Rafi, Mukesh,
Talat etc.) imitated Saigal to start of their career. Such was the aura of
K L Saigal, that no other voice could have been accepted. No other male
singer can bring so much of pain in voice.Lastt but not the least, a big
thanks to Musique4ever for making this video available.

Mohanbir Singh Ghura on Thursday, June 26, 2008
It was known as bhule bisre geet.

vake1000 on Thursday, June 26, 2008
god bless kl saigal eternally
bhairavi at its supreme best

Gothica247 on Thursday, July 17, 2008
His singing style is so simple yet so deeply emotional. I was in India in April one year, and on the 11th day of that month nobody knew or cared he was born that day.Sad. I once purchased an original video of "Tansen", the shop owner looked confused, considering Kundan Lal Saigal died 18 years before I was even born !!

Khalidmmirza on Wednesday, August 13, 2008
This song is from film Street Singer that was released in way back 1938.

One of the best songs ever. The film version is bit different than the LP,
It is hard for me to chose which one is better. Each is better than the
other. SImply superb.

Gothica247 on Monday, September 22, 2008
I simply get this song out of my head. Thanks again, for uploading. :-)

Gothica247 on Monday, October 13, 2008
Thank you, again...! peace

babinounette on Wednesday, October 29, 2008
no playback employed in this song. he is singing live on the camera

Gourang Ambulkar on Saturday, November 08, 2008
WAAAAAH WAAAAH.thanks a million...Only K L Saigal could do justice to
this sorrowful melody. Thanks again.

ved prakash on Sunday, December 14, 2008
exemplary. The recorded version is better from rythem and systematic point
of view.KLS remains the best ever filmi singer in the field of light
musicn& light classical music till today.

Gothica247 on Wednesday, January 07, 2009
sorry. I still love this song.

tvwala on Thursday, February 12, 2009
This song touches my heart...it moves me...what a song!!!

sumancalif on Friday, June 26, 2009
well many people may think that it must have been written for a dulhan going to husband house.
But the real story is , this Thumri was written by Wajid Ali Shah (last nawab or Awadh) when he was exiled to Calcutta from Lucknow.

mohendra minocha on Sunday, July 19, 2009
saigal went to lucknow to rehearse under a ustad to render this thumri

lionheart1965 on Friday, July 31, 2009
Sumancalif, it was written by Wajid Ali...but not when he was exiled.but
before that... it happened so...he was exiled..and ordered to leave Lucknow
in night time to avoid disturbance.. Wajid left lucknow in dark..but many
people came to see off...one of them was his court singer...who sang that
thumri...but his voice got choked and started crying

heavyatheart on Monday, August 24, 2009
When I listen to Saigal, all other movie singers appear small in front of
him. No one has put as much emotion in a classical song like Saigal has in
this song. It is simply unbelievable.

A Prasad on Monday, September 07, 2009
singers like mukesh and kishore looked up to k.l saigal, thats how good he
was

AppaRao Venkata Vinjamuri on Friday, September 11, 2009
Saigalisamarhai heiscalled as AMAR SAIGAL

Gothica247 on Saturday, September 26, 2009
This song still shows real reality. No Glamour, just reality ! A Gem .

Ravi Sinha on Sunday, October 04, 2009
This song was recorded live with the camera and cup shaped single mike on
the trolly and a couple of instrumentalists including tabla player walking
along. There were several takes and they had a problem deciding which one
to keep as each take was better than the other. Saigal improvised
differently in each take. The effect is amazing. There is no doubt that
Saigal reigns supreme.

AMAN Singh on Tuesday, October 20, 2009
can any one tell te story of "Street Singer". I heard that film like
"Abhiman", "Sitara" are copy of this film

Deval Shah on Saturday, October 24, 2009
So awesome.wow. I love K L Saigal jee..specially Lori...soja
rajkumari soja.

Anita gosain on Saturday, October 31, 2009
Beautiful and immortal . no one can match K.L Sehgal.

Ravi Sinha on Friday, November 13, 2009
Amanbhai7861 wanted the story of Street Singer. Bholua and Manju are two
orphaned children growing together singing on streets. Manju starts working
in theatre and becomes a popular singing star . Bholua, who was a better
singer and her trainer, is left behind. Manju gets rich and closer to the
theatre owner and finds less time for Bholua. The climax scene is this song
when Bholua in a state of high fever and frustration picks up his harmonium
and walks out in stormy weather.

Ravi Sinha on Friday, November 13, 2009
I have posted a comment earlier in reply.

vasandan on Thursday, January 21, 2010
Love this song, one of my favorites!

mahakavi on Thursday, February 04, 2010
Yeh Thumri Nawab Wajid Ali Shah ki likhi hui hai, jinka takhallus Qaiser
aur kahiN Akhtar milta hai. "His Bhairavi thumri "Babul mora Naihar chhooto
jaay" has been sung by several prominent singers, but the version most
remembered is by Kundan Lal Saigal for the 1930s movie Street Singer. In a
strange manner this sad song epitomises the pain and agony of the poet king
himself when he was exiled from his beloved Lucknow." ( Wikipedia)
