As I listen to this duet first time ever; it just amazes me how could the
simple, but heartfelt lyrics, when uttered from the lips of great singers
like Lata Ji and Talat generate such powerful effect and penetrate deep
into the heart? This is the magic of music but equally or more it's the
magic of Lata Ji and Talat! Of course the music director (apparently
unknown) Hafiz Khan's contribution needs mention here too. Thanks Rehma
Ather!

@imranzaidi6 Zaidi Sahib - Hafeez Khan was a veteran music director. His
most famous film is Zeenat (1946). Hafeez was also a renowned singer and
better known as Khan Mastana. U must have listned his song Zindgi hay ya
kohi toofan hay (Khawaja Mir Dard ghazal) of film Zindgi ya toofan. As
composer his other films are Mera Salam, Lakeeren (Talat songs). His last
days were miserable and became a beggar. Very handsome man In YT please
watch Muqabla (1942) song, sung & picturized on him.

My music knowledge was almost zero before I started listening to songs by
rehmaather. Not only I am enjoying these beautiful songs but the comments
by learned music afficionado has immensely increased my music knowledge.
Who would want to listen to some obscure songs when one can listen to gems
posted by you. Thanks a million.

Hello. Hafiz Khan & Hafiz Khan Mastana were two different persons. Hafiz Khan was a very talented Music Director from the 40's and 50's. He faded away by end of 50's. Hafiz Khan Mastana known as Khan Mastana was an actor/singer. Famous for songs from Laila Majnu/1945 with Nazir & Swarnlata, Sawan Aaya Re & Zindagi aur Toofan and many others. He got into drugs & ended up on streets begging. Friends such as Rafi & Lata did help him out in his bad days but who can help anyone for life? Regards.

Good luck cool on Sunday, April 14, 2013
Thanks for giving this song. I love old songs from Talat Mahmood. All those
good days have gone. will never be back with such talanted singers. Once
again thanks many times.

The voice of Tala here a bit differs from his usaual wavering voice. Nice
