Comments for song "Jagaao Mere Des Ko"
Dibyadyuti Basu on Saturday, August 17, 2013 Who cares, rudresh... I am a Bengali too and a trained Rabindra-Sangeet
singer and don't mind non-Bengalis trying to sing a Bengali song.Get out of
these narrow-mindedness. And I know how most of our so-called
Rabindra-Sangeet singers sing Tagore songs with their own twisted diction.
Suchi is a Bengali and sang the more difficult lines. Try to understand the
feelings of a composer who felt compelled to show his respect to the master
poet. I bet Tagore would've felt proud! Music is universal..
rudresh on Saturday, August 17, 2013 If you think on the lines "who cares" then nothing more to be said. I don't
mind Non bengali singers sing Tagore's song too. (Lataji Asha ji sang many
more), the thing here is diction. If AR would have sung with right diction
then I woudn't have pointed that out. Its not narrow mindedness if you
understand, just pointing the things could have been better.
Dibyadyuti Basu on Saturday, August 17, 2013 I agree the diction could have been better but there are just so many
things in this world which could have been better, nothing is prefect. It
is a matter of how you look at things. On the eve of Independence Day, such
an emotional and patriotic creation, uniting one of lndia's best
visionaries and one of India's best musicians is just the best thing
possible. I dont stay in the country and was immensely moved by this. Focus
on the positives of things & the world would look better to you.
Anand Thobbi on Saturday, August 17, 2013 Raag Kedar?
Manisit Das on Saturday, August 17, 2013 It's really ridiculous that your comment received so many negative votes!
Let people get crushed by their baggage of orthodoxy!
Dibyadyuti Basu on Saturday, August 17, 2013 Actually not mine... it was the earlier comment to which I replied that got
the negative votes...cheers
MrMalangii on Saturday, August 17, 2013 How did tht female singer's eyes lit.. Priceless!!
Chirag Gupta on Saturday, August 17, 2013 awesum music...!! see the AR rahman expression.. **miracle**
Souvik Gupta on Saturday, August 17, 2013 its so sad we bengalis make an issue of such petty matters, same we did when
rabindra sangeet got interpreted with modern arrangements, someone from
chennai atleast tried to sing in bengali and i am sure he gave his best to
learn.appreciate the creation there are loads of issues in india..
Dibyadyuti Basu on Saturday, August 17, 2013 Precisely my point... at least most of us believe it's great barring a few
exceptions
Dibyadyuti Basu on Saturday, August 17, 2013 None can 'teach' you reason unless it dawns in you, who am I to do that.
Going by the same logic, I think u should hv also kept ur feelings to
yourself abt the diction bit (such a minor thing, really). Rehman's Hindi
diction is also not great, but no ones complaining. So no one is being a
fan-boy here. Fine, you made your point, and we agree, so put it to rest.
on a lighter note, diction , diction, diction... too much can become an
addiction! LoL.. chill, bro
Dibyadyuti Basu on Saturday, August 17, 2013 Absolutely. If it is such a big issue, then people should have by now
killed Ravi Shastri for pronouncing Kolkata consistently as "Kolkota"...
Rehman's Hindi diction is not great as well, but no one's complaining.
Bengalis used to be fussy abt these small things for ages and thankfully
the recent generations hv moved out of these for good, few exceptions
remain. I am a trained in Rabindra Sangeet myself and I know how most
Rabindra Sangeet singers sing in their own twisted diction.
Teerath Majumder on Saturday, August 17, 2013 i strongly disagree with people who think this demeaned Tagore. some even
tried to make the point that this poem should not have been used in this
experiment. stop being hypocrites. to most bengalis Tagore is now just an
ornament to show off. we perform his songs, talk about him so mcuh but
little do we realize his depth of thinking, work. so it's better to
experiment with his work than keep them stagnant.
suraj biswas on Saturday, August 17, 2013 The bassist is too good . she will be a legened ..
Soumita Biswas on Saturday, August 17, 2013 beautifully sung bangla version hats off to u Sir
samyogita3288 on Saturday, August 17, 2013 Is that Raag Kedar starting at 3:52-ish?
samyogita3288 on Saturday, August 17, 2013 Aah I see. I always have a hard time telling the two apart. Thanks!
rudresh on Saturday, August 17, 2013 can u mention where did i disrespect Rehman? Pointing out a thing which can
be better is not disrespect, be it anyone. Aren't you being too sensitive
or a Fan boy that whtevr Rehman does, is great, mindset?
rudresh on Saturday, August 17, 2013 Your tone of words, like do this, do that needs to stop. And, me telling
Rehman something about his work as a listener or at the most, as a critic
and you preaching me about do this and this, BIG difference, grow up and
understand this. Rehman's hindi diction was criticized in some part of the
listeners if you don't know. But now we got used to this and he had
improved too. On a lighter note, its you being addicted and too sensitive
about Rehman. take a chill pill.
rudresh on Saturday, August 17, 2013 If you think diction is a minor part of singing then I am afraid to say,
music sensibilities needs a hard look. I appreciated in first post itself
that great arrangements, but diction of AR is not good and other bengali
singers would have been better. Is it too much to accept? Only a fanatic
can think that.
bornomala on Sunday, August 18, 2013 har jaga may ungli karna jaruri hay kiya?
Krishna Piyush on Sunday, August 18, 2013 Brilliantly put
vjunloc1 on Sunday, August 18, 2013 This one didn't work for me, i think rahman needs to experiment more, other
composers are doing a better job at the moment.

from Rahman.
Marc Jackson on Sunday, August 18, 2013 I'm the 6181 liker <3
Dibyadyuti Basu on Sunday, August 18, 2013 It has been 6 days and I have at least listened to this like 50 times!! It
is becoming an addiction..
Dibyadyuti Basu on Sunday, August 18, 2013 Oh, really! Do you even know that Tagore turned down the knighthood (Sir)
title given to him by the British to show his anger over Jalianwalabagh
killings!!! Can you or I even think of doing that?
Dibyadyuti Basu on Sunday, August 18, 2013 You again missed the bigger purpose of the song. Anyways, some people never
understand. I did agree that the diction could've been better. U are the
stubborn diction fanatic it seems.
Dibyadyuti Basu on Sunday, August 18, 2013 Excuse me, what was the original one? This is the original one... this is a
poem never given a tune by Tagore. So Rehamn composed the music for both
the Bengali and Hindi part.
Tanzeeb Zaman on Sunday, August 18, 2013 superb music ...specially the bassist is really awesome...

heart awesome ar ji
Dibyadyuti Basu on Sunday, August 18, 2013 Please don't generalize Bengalis here. Barring a few, most Bengalis
including myself in this comment stream have greatly liked the fusion. It
was a great honor that Rehman showed by singing the song himself. Tagore
would have been so proud!
Satha Karni on Sunday, August 18, 2013 I apologize..and removed my comment..
