Comments for song "Mahaganapatim (Jam)"
copnite12342 on Friday, May 14, 2010 that girl who sings next to shabana is scewing up her melodies
marfaned on Saturday, August 14, 2010 @drarvindr I hope you are kidding..Ganapathi would cry? The mythical
Ganapathi? Anyway I am just kidding. I agree, the fusion did not quite work
out but it wasnt terrible though.
violinoamore on Wednesday, October 06, 2010 First - it is not "morning raga". Second - it sounds quite disgusting in
this terrible arrangement :(
masterprofession on Sunday, January 02, 2011 @violinoamore --- Hey, everyone knows it is NOT morning raaga ...
"Morning Raaga" is the name of this movie ...
violinoamore on Sunday, January 02, 2011 This is a minor issue, the major one is it sounds horrible and tasteless
VNVkSASTRY on Friday, January 07, 2011 A devotional song converted in to pop song. What an atrocity? Dr.VNVK Sastry
kēśhav rāj on Sunday, February 13, 2011 @vinubarro it's a revolution
marfaned on Monday, March 14, 2011 @tofusambal There appears to be different interpretations in the
literature. One is an abstract representation of divinity in many forms.
The multi god system itself is a pantheistic worldview of nature equals
god, in some branches of the complex belief system. It is academic issue
for me..I just happen to like the classical music that it inspired.
ShriShubhashish on Saturday, March 19, 2011 Shabana Azmi's lip syncing is fantastic!!!
Sudhir Desai on Wednesday, March 30, 2011 Terrible experiment - there is a pathological deterioration in taste and
judgment of quality.
srikanthlives on Thursday, May 12, 2011 what a cheap trick for publicity. Ruining karnatic music and the sloka.
srikantgeoid on Tuesday, June 07, 2011 @Jayadevan456 well Jaydeven, I dont want to comment what education your
parents have given. At least this I have learned from my parents. It is my
common sense and feelings which I expressed. Nothing to do with my
education. I have every right to express my view. Dont be angry at me. And
it depends on me to whom I should include to my hate list. You control your
emotion and anger.
misskrypt0nit3 on Monday, July 04, 2011 the whole western vocals thing is distracting!
brainoftheyear on Sunday, September 04, 2011 What I don't understand is why most comments are so negative. Bombay
Jayashree has sung it so beautifully, you guys should be raving about this
song by now. Anyone, who appreciates good music, should be able to see that
all they've done is create a masterpiece using another one. What's wrong in
that? At least they're trying to promote Carnatic music amongst today's
youth.. And when it comes to fusion, there is no forbidden genre; that's
why it's called Fusion - it's a fusion of different genres.
brainoftheyear on Sunday, September 04, 2011 @srikantgeoid Go read the Wikipedia article for the movie Morning Raga..
Wnd read each and every sentence properly until you find this one: "Shabana
Azmi trained intensively in Carnatic music before she was allowed to sing
during the film."
srikantgeoid on Monday, September 05, 2011 @brainoftheyear Hi, with music I never judge by what people say or what
written in wikipedia. I judge what my inner being says. I dont like the
fusion and I expressed it. You liked it and let you enjoy. And Sabana Azmi
is a good actor who needs an intense training on such music. What is
extraordinary in it? Well I dont want to waste more time on this.
Harish Chandra U on Friday, September 23, 2011 I wish they had not made this movie at all .. :| a disaster to Carnatic music
sunizach on Thursday, October 13, 2011 @coolcrave: I agree.
sunizach on Thursday, October 13, 2011 I think that those of you who prefer the pure Carnatic version have to be a
little open-minded because some of us don't know Carnatic music (especially
the younger ones among us, or if we grow up abroad India) and this song
actually introduces us to the beautiful ragas that we never heard.
sunizach on Thursday, October 13, 2011 I would not have liked these songs in the original raga form if I had heard
them first, not being used to that kind of music, but the fusion songs in
this movie were just amazing to me. I went back to actually listen to the
original ragas just because I heard these songs. And yes, I've heard
Yesudas sing Maha Ganapatim also, it was really beautiful.
sunizach on Thursday, October 13, 2011 Part of bhakthi is love, and compassion, and tolerance. Some of you here
are quick to judge and condemn, instead of embracing the fact that there
are differences among us; and that its all right to make something
beautiful for people who are different. IMHO, If you prefer the original
ragas, please listen to those and let us enjoy these the way we enjoy
them.
Bhagat Singh on Thursday, November 17, 2011 Indian vocal loses its soul around western instruments.
guest25951 on Saturday, February 11, 2012 yes this is terrible, but why is that girl shouting and ruining even
whatever is okay of this remix?
PeregrineDive on Monday, February 13, 2012 This is not about fusion being bad, just that a girl yelling is not fusion
rosheni . on Saturday, August 25, 2012 i luvd the sog...the fusion except 4 the girl's yelling
Leheria on Thursday, October 18, 2012 haha.. badass ending.. good way to describe it.. basically its a pattern of
notes (swaras) that she improvised on the spot.. pretty cool stuff!
Satyajit Sahu on Friday, January 11, 2013 I have been listening to this for several years now, agreed the video
spoiled it a bit for me, but from the music pt of view, I think this as
well as many other fusion from Morning Raga simply are amazing. Set aside
the purists pt of view, and your former association (spiritual, or
devotional), I am talking only music!
Chitin Vaishali on Monday, January 28, 2013 It's a movie, and the real singer is someone else. Shabhana Azmi is an
actor, a fine one at that.
Karunakar Naiga on Sunday, March 10, 2013 Perizaad's screeching ruined it..
nmpost7 on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 cannot agree at all. In my humble opinion, it is a great disrespect to a great composer and a great tradition.
AppaRao Venkata Vinjamuri on Wednesday, April 10, 2013 Music is all about innovation! The fusion is superb and the rendition is magical! Hats off to all th I think this as well as many other fusion from Morning Raga simply are amazing.
kris upadrasta on Sunday, May 12, 2013 no one gives a damn..its fusion ...!
Mani Menon on Saturday, July 06, 2013 Fusion music has a charm and beauty all its own. I'm sick and tired of
people describing Carnatic music as 'divine'! If it's divine, why do the
Carnatic singers demand money for singing? After all the music is divine
and divinity has no price tag! This is purely my opinion. I feel fusion
music is one effective way to popularise Carnatic music. By the way, I'm no
pimply faced teenager. I'm in my early 60s. :-)
Sivaram Pochiraju on Monday, July 08, 2013 Carnatic Music is surely divine but not the singers. After all they are
mere mortals except M.S.S, who is said to have donated about a crore rupees
through her concerts during her time.
Pandurang Parwatikar on Sunday, September 22, 2013 Lord Ganesha Bless All
Sivaramakrishnan C N Iyer on Saturday, October 12, 2013 The Thala is totally wrong .. thats not how adi thalam goes about ..
Any ardent music lover can point it out . P.S.- I loved the movie !
Srinivas Ramabhadran on Sunday, October 13, 2013 Maha Ganapatim is not in Adi, but in Chatushra Eka talam. Besides, even if
it were adi talam, the "veeshu" (i.e beats 6 and 8) not being visible does
not make the talam "totally wrong." Lots of professional musicians skip it,
but keep to the 8 beat cycle correctly.
Srinivas Ramabhadran on Monday, October 14, 2013 Nope. Chatushra Ekam (1,2,3,4 ... 4-beat cycle). The difference might be
semantic, but that doesn't make it Adi.
Dharr vem on Monday, October 28, 2013 "Morning Raga."
Dharr vem on Monday, October 28, 2013 It's really GREAT!!!
