@Gilly1942 Hi gilly i am an Indian student in Hobart, Tasmania and i
feeling elevated by your views and i tell u we as indians have a big and
mighty hear to accept everyone even if u are an australian. the back drop
of the movie compels to bring out a long forgotten history in our country
where people have forgotten the sacrifices of our British indian army
troops in Gallipoli alongside with aussies and kiwis.

@humanistish better if people like you remain in IT. Farmers are the backbone of this nation. You insult the nation by saying you are not a nationalist. What is that? A nationalist? By which you mean that you do not have a fervor or zeal for your nation that this song proclaims. The song is not about farming but about how the nation is worshipped and the relationship between working on a nation's land and the love for the land in which you are born.

Mango35 on Wednesday, May 19, 2010
@humanistish Western Educated people do not value their land - that is why they have no worries in invading others' land. Your need to distinguish yourself as 'not a nationalist' is so western influenced. Self-centredness is the main stay of western culture. And you display that amply in your short statement. I, me, myself. I am this and not that. I like only the song for its lryics, music, farming. losing the entire spirit of the art and passion that lies behind this masterpiece. Lamentable.

Jatta Jatt on Wednesday, May 19, 2010
@Mango35 Well said ! you made a good point. I am open to any constructive
criticism. btw you write English very well. You must be bit influenced from
the west too.

Mango35 on Wednesday, May 19, 2010
@humanistish. Yes I read, write, speak English well. I wear tie and jacket, use a laptop, phone and drive a car. There is hardly anything around me that is not created by West or influenced by it. I am living in this era. I read write Hindi, telugu even better. I understand the Western people's poetry, their literature and their culture and their history. I am aware. This does not make me an English Bloke.

Mango35 on Wednesday, May 19, 2010
@humanistish Indians speak many languages much better than Westerners. Have you encountered a French man speaking Hindi as fluently as Nehru spoke French or PV Narasimha Rao spoke languages of the West? Hardly ever. Sanskrit is the most perfect language. Like all ancient things religions and languages that are ancient are perfect. West is not ancient - 2000 years old.

Mango35 on Wednesday, May 19, 2010
@humanistish West excels at material things ONLY. West is like a wax apple. Bite it and you'll regret it. India is like a coconut. Hard to crack but sweet and pure inside. West shines, appeals, attracts and then deceives with its hollow culture. They are Godless, militaristic, war-mongers, filled with blood-lust, covet others' wealth, vainly pretentious and are after happiness with an unlimited list of wants.

Mango35 on Wednesday, May 19, 2010
@humanistish Our arts, lang, still live despite Western greed. Our religions still are the most complete and humane. Buddhism (which I see you follow) is the greatest of religion/philosophy ever. That is from this land. When the song says, "...hai sab pe maa upkaar tera" it means that all who are born here are in her debt. We receive our blessings from this Ved Bhumi Bharat.

Mango35 on Wednesday, May 19, 2010
@humanistish That is why we all are indebted to this great land. Whether we accept it or not, like or not. This is the truth that the song masterfully presents, never to be forgotten. We are all nationalists whether we say so or not. Thank you Humanist for reading.

@anoopculture Thank you very much for responding to my comment. I had visited your beautiful country and purchased the video of Mere Desh Ki Dharti a pirated copy though. I also fell in love with the voice of Shreya Ghoshal and bought a few CDs of her. She has the most beautiful voice one can imagine. Her voice is the most beautiful that I have heard.
Indians are proud and patriotic people. I feel that every Indian must know Mere Desh Ki Dharti and sing it every day to make him proud.

Beautiful song, greetings all the way from the Fiji Islands. My ancestors came from India to here in Fiji over 100 years ago... this song makes me somewhat pride filled of my own land/country that is mine now, but also it seems to make me feel some thing towards the "Motherland", Bharat Mata. It brings pride in knowing that it is from there that my origins lie. Jai Hind! and bless Fiji!!!

@sks23132 Dude! Stop fighting over states and castes and stuff!!
KhalsaKnights1947 just said that this song reminds him of India and in
particular Punjab, since he's from there. U don't have to get offended over
it! C'mon man! When do we stop fighting over Punjab, Bihar, UP,
Maharashtra?? We are Indians and that's it!!

deep388 on Friday, February 18, 2011
@sks23132 - I so agree!! Of us here in Fiji, our ancestors hail from both Bihar and UP so we have bloodline that connects us with the Bihari logh...Jai ho Bihar and UP!!! But yeah, doesn't matter, Indians are all indian no matter where from...I have no real connection with India, but this song is a beautiful way of feeling honoured and respect for where my ancestors are from..

Dear Rizwan Khoso. Thanks for your comment. I feel that this song is dedicated to all humanity that eats the salt of this earth. We are the children of the world and it is our obligation no matter where we live to give thanks to God (pbuh) for giving us our land from which we are born and nourished. In spite of all our differences whether political, religious or skin colour we are all the children of Mother earth whose salt we need to survive. May Allah (pbuh) bless all of us as one people.
