Zafar Ahsan on Wednesday, May 26, 2010 @LonelySea79 In my opinion the poet is complaining about his sweetheart
that whenever he (poet) wanted to narrate his grievances (can be love
related or general affairs) to her , she criticizes (nukta chin hai), him
and points out his unworthiness instead of giving any moral support by
sympathizing with him.
Zafar Ahsan on Saturday, May 29, 2010 @sonachenab In my opinion, Nukta chin hai (she criticizes), and now the
question, who and in which regard, the answer follows (ghame dil) meaning
my grievances, (usko), meaning my beloved. The poet says that my beloved
criticizes my shortcomings instead of sympathizing with me on my material
deficiencies. Kia bane baat jahan baat banaye na bane. How can I make the
relation ship work, when my efforts are jeopardized. To me this version of
the Ghazzal is the best.

satishchopra1 on Thursday, July 22, 2010 In the recorded history of ghazal singing and particularly of Ghalib, Kundal Lal Saigal was perhaps was the first and foremost. Begum Akhtar continued the genre. They were certanly the legends, as they din'ne merely sang the words but the thought expressed in the verses. Thereafter, Talat & Suraiya were the greatest and what luminary Ghulam mohammad composed in the film 'Mirza Ghalib' will be written in golden letters, if and when the history of ghazal singing will be written.
Raman Gill on Thursday, August 05, 2010 great great great awesome song thats what u can say a ghazal song melody
thanx friend and u r not alone
abaswara on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 my favorite of Suraiya too...so many have rendered this song, including
greats like Begum Akhtar, but this version is the best...
abaswara on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 A sad heart tends to complain...cannot bear to listen to it... what is
there to talk where it is so hard to converse.. I am roaming around holding
your letter in my hand...if someone asks why I cant hide... I am inviting
him, but I my heart wishes that he be put in a position where he cannot but
come... There is no holding back love..it is like a fire, that cannot be
lit, once lit cannot be extinguished..
Sudarshan Datta on Monday, August 30, 2010 The Question of Nukta chee ... I'd put once to an elder who was a graduate
of Urdu & Persian from Lahore in times of the British, the answer was short
and prompt - "critical & analytical"
Sudarshan Datta on Monday, August 30, 2010 The Question of Nukta chee ... I'd put once to an elder retired IRS officer who was a graduate of Urdu & Persian from Lahore in times of the British, the answer was short and prompt - "critical & analytical"
Muhammad Yusaf on Friday, October 01, 2010 First two lines explained. "Nukta cheen" means to criticize. Who is
criticizing? The beloved. "Ghame dil" means the sadness of the heart. In
the second line (1)"kya bane baat" means can't succeed in his aim (2)"Baat
banana" means to satisfy someone or to answer somebody's complaint.
Meaning: As the beloved has the habit of criticizing all the time, I am
unable to show him the condition of my sad heart. Because I cannot satisfy
him that is why I cannot succeed in my aim.
Muhammad Yusaf on Saturday, October 02, 2010 Verse 2 Ghair phirta hai liey yoon tere khat ko keh agar Koi poochhe keh
yeh kiya hai? to chhupai na bane "Ghair" means "raqeeb", i.e., rival in
love. Meaning: O beloved, my rival is roaming with your letter in such a
way that if somebody asks him what it is, he will be forced to reveal your
name. This will bring you a bad name. Therefore, refrain to write him any
letter in the future.
Muhammad Yusaf on Saturday, October 02, 2010 Verse 3 "Kisi per ban jana" is an Urdu idiom which means to suffer a
misfortune or someone is forced to do something. "Jazba" means passion,
strong desire or love. Meaning: I am calling my beloved but I have no hope
that he will care to come. I, therefore, appeal to my strong and passionate
love to influence him in such a way that he is forced to come.
Muhammad Yusaf on Saturday, October 02, 2010 Verse 4 "Aatish" means fire. The poet compares the passion of love to fire.
Meaning: The passion of love is so strong that we have no control over it.
We cannot kindle the flame of love in somebody's heart nor can we
extinguish this fire if somebody is already in love. In other words, we
cannot make somebody love or quit loving.
listen2watidontsay on Thursday, October 14, 2010 @sonachenab Sorry but the meaning given by LonelySea79 is not correct. The
correct meaning goes like this: My beloved is too critical of me! I find it
difficult to express my feelings to her, What relationship can there
possibly be, when no conversation takes place despite effort?
listen2watidontsay on Thursday, October 14, 2010 The correct meaning of the first couplet goes like this: My beloved is too

Gaurav Pandit on Thursday, December 23, 2010 @MrRafkhan Khansaab, let me tell you Author Victor Hugo of France wrote a
world class literature book 'La miserab' I have seen some two or three
English versions but when I saw 'Kundan'. Mashallh what Sohrab Mody can do,
nobody in Hollywood, in England or in New York Broadway can do even one
tenth of it. La miserab' showed for five years, house full shows, but still
it is not match to Kudan. Once I reach India by Feb i am going to upload
the movie Kundan.
RealMusicKing on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 Hello Yuan and thank you. What a voice Suraiyya had?? Lovely. Too bad she got swept under the rug. All songs of Mirza Ghalib were excellent. All were Ghazals by Mirza Asadullah Khan Ghalib except two which were penned by Shakeel Badayuni. One was a Qawwali by Rafi & Chorus and the other was a song sung by Sudha Malhotra who used to be song writer Sahir Ludhianvi's girlfriend for quite some time.
RealMusicKing on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 Well.if you want my lips sealed...than I guess I'll have to..seal them. LOL.

Sakshi Sharda on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 @sonachenab Nukta chee hai ghame dil, usko sunaye na bane Cynical is this
heart (of mine), with whom when I try to reason out with, I can't (doesn't
listen to me) Kya bane baat, jahan baat banaye na bane (What I am reasoning
out is -) What to make of that love, which is impossible (to attain/reach)

simsomari1 on Thursday, June 30, 2011 she is one of my fav singers..koi alfaaz nahin..awsome!
vinayfound on Friday, July 01, 2011 None of the translations given here capture the true essence of the first
line. "NUKTA CHEEN" literally means "nitpicking" or "unnecessarily finding
faults" or "prone to asking difficult questions" or "difficult to
convince". Therefore, the meaning that emerges is as follows: -" IT IS
DIFFICULT TO CONVINCE OR CONSOLE MY WOEBEGONE HEART - I CAN'T GET IT TO
LISTEN TO ME..THE PESSIMISTIC NITPICKER HAS RUINED MY LOVE LIFE.
kamaz123456 on Tuesday, July 05, 2011 nukta cheen means self criticising

Dinesh Kumthekar on Saturday, February 11, 2012 My all time favourite songs of Suraiyya..
aramuskguy on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 @vkj321 : Agree with you..In fact, if at all there was a female singer in
Hindi films whose voice could be compared to Lata Mangeshkar's voice in
terms of sweetness, purity and soulfulness, I dare say it was Suraiya...What
a monumental waste of her great voice that she did not sing much...
aramuskguy on Wednesday, February 22, 2012 Just listen to the alaap...Can there be anything more touching??? Suraiya
is no more, long live her songs!!!
