LifeIsaTrain on Monday, May 11, 2009 Yes, first Hindi movie of Vyjayanthimala, but the actress-dancer that most
people recognize as Padmini wasn't in this. That was just the name they
used for Pandari Bai, for some reason...
rumahale on Monday, May 11, 2009 Thanks for the correct information.

MsJon316 on Saturday, June 12, 2010 Did the skillful use of light and shadow enhance the romantic mood evoke by these melodies? What a melliflous ambience! ! Vyjayanthi at her vibrant best
monolith242 on Saturday, July 03, 2010 Actually, Vyjanthimala had illicit liaisons with Dilip Kumar and Raj Kapoor. In fact, she stayed at Raj Kapoor's house for many months, during which his wife, Rishi Kapoor and rest of his kids were forced to stay in hotel. But the southie star conveniently chose to ignore these dalliances in her autobiography.

Coucoutchicou on Thursday, February 24, 2011 Not only a crystal clear voice but such verve and rhythm ...! There has just not been anyone like her in Bollywood. The pity is that the fools who could - and should have used her didn't have the sense to do so - to the detriment of true music lovers!
josf1988 on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 Old classics will always be alive...they are truly evergreen..todays music can nowhere close to them...

Babu Kamath on Monday, December 03, 2012 Shamshad begum the melody queen of our younger days, well remembered
through this romantic song. Her voice is sensual. Till, Lata ji conquered,
she was ruling the empire. Thank you for uploading this ever green or Sada
Bahar geet from Bahar. Thank you Rumahle ji. With lots of love.

rumahale on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 Thank you for liking.
Mani Menon on Thursday, February 21, 2013 Shamshad Begum, like Geeta Dutt, was so very versatile. Give her any song
and she would sing it so beautifully! She has made me laugh, made me weep
and made me think! By the way, 'Bahar' was indeed Vyjyanthimala's debut
venture in Hindi movies. Simultaneously, it was made in Tamil too as
'Vazhkai' (Life) starring Vy. She looks so young, fresh and 'bholi bhali'
in this song, Bahut bahut dhanyawad, rumahaleji.
rumahale on Thursday, February 21, 2013 Very interesting information you have about Vyjayantimala and her debut
movie. The comments on Shamshad Begum singing is more interesting - "She
has made me laugh, made me weep and made me think" - so true of her
versatility. I too like her songs even now. Thank you.
Mani Menon on Thursday, February 21, 2013 Rumahaleji, one song that makes my eyes well up is, "Pee ke ghar aaj pyari
dulhaniya chali..." from 'Mother India' When she sings, "Bhaiyya behna ke
dil ko lagi tthes re..." I think of my sister.
rumahale on Thursday, February 21, 2013 Well said again dear friend. She has also memorable songs in "Babul",
"Deedar" etc. Thanks again.
Mani Menon on Thursday, February 21, 2013 Yes yes. "More babul ka ghar..." Shamshad Begum is a gem, rumahaleji.
Another song---doesn't make my eyes well up though!----is the breezy, "Booj
mera kya naam re, nadi kinare gaon re." from 'CID' Aw, the list is
endless, mere dost!
rumahale on Thursday, February 21, 2013 Great memories indeed. Thanks again dear friend.
