Lyrics of Jago Bansi Ware Lalna - जागो बंसी वारे ललना
jago bansi ware lalna
jago more pyare
rajni beeti bhor bhayo he
ghar ghar khule kiwade
jago bansi ware lalna
aa re darshan dijo aa
tum bin raho na jaye
piya re darshan dijo aa
jal bhi komal
chandra bhi mora jami
aise tum dekhal na sajni
aakul vyakul firu virhani
virah kaleja thal
piya re darshan dijo aaye
badal dekh dari main
badal dekh dari
o sham badal dekh dari
kali pili ghata umdi
barso ek ghadi
badal dekh dari
Poetic Translation - Lyrics of Jago Bansi Ware Lalna
Awake, flute-bearer, my darling, awake,
My beloved, arise, from slumber take.
Night has fled, and dawn's embrace,
Opens doors to every space.
Awake, flute-bearer, my darling, awake.
Come, grant your vision, come appear,
Without you, I cannot bear.
O Beloved, grant your vision, come,
Water, gentle; moon, my land, become.
I see you not, my love, my dear,
Lost, bewildered, consumed by fear.
Longing burns, a barren shore,
O Beloved, grant your vision, evermore.
Seeing clouds, I'm filled with dread,
Clouds I fear, the skies I've read.
O Shyam, clouds, my heart they bind,
Dark and yellow, the storm they find.
For an hour, the rain will pour,
Clouds I fear, and nothing more.

Coucoutchicou on Sunday, November 23, 2014 It is indeed raag Lalit which is now commonly sung in the Poorvi thaat i.e.
with Komal Dhaivat and not shudh Dhaivat, which marks the difference
between the Poorvi and the marwa thaats.
