She won four national awards. She won it first time in 1976-77 and last
time in 1992. Before 1976 she has sung many songs in kannada and malayalam
for which she realy deserved the award. In kannada the songs like Bharatha
bhooshira mandira... from Upasane, Nambide ninna nada... from Sandhya Raga,
Shiva shiva ennada... from Hemavathi and many more to list. All are real
gems. May be they are more worthy than the award.

I request North people to give the respect to the south indian legends. We
the south peoples gives the respect to Latha, Asha, Geetha, Suman. We
listen to their songs. There should not be any differences and mis
understandings between South and North. There should not be any partiality.

S.Janaki is the evergreen Playback singer of India. She deserves Bharatha
rathna Award. She ruled the south Indian music for more than four decades.
She is the undisputed melody queen of Kannada and Malayalam cinema from
1960s to 1990s and Telugu cinema from late 1960s to 1990s and Tamil cinema
from late 70s to early 90s.
