Lyrics of Shaam Dhale Jamuna Kinare Kinare - शाम ढले जमुना किनारे किनारे

sham dhale jamuna kinare kinare
aaja radhe aaja tohe sham pukare
sham dhale jamuna kinare kinare
aaja radhe aaja tohe sham pukare
kabhi ruke kabhi chale radha chori chori
piya kahe aa jiya kahe nahi gori
sham dhale jamuna kinare kinare
aaja radha aaja tohe sham pukare

radha sharmaye manwa ghabraye
paniya bharne wo jaye na jaye
haiya ho, khadi soche barijbala
barij me hai holi
kanha rang denge mohe haye barjori
log karege ye ishare ishare
aaja radhe aaja tohe sham pukare
sham dhale jamuna kinare kinare
aaja radhe aaja tohe sham pukare

koi kahe sham se na bansuri bajaye
chain kisi ka wo chitchor na churaye
dagmag dole jiya ki naiyya
dagmag dole jiya ki naiyya
chale jab purwaiya chede bansi kanhaiya
jadu bhare naina lage nainwa ki dori
soye sara jage ek chakori
rat kate gin gin ke tare tare
aaja radhe aaja tohe sham pukare
sham dhale jamuna kinare kinare
aaja radhe aaja tohe sham pukare

panghat pe sakhiya karti hai batiya
mohan se laagi radha ki ankhiya
jo bhi mile yahi puche sun o kishori
gayi kaha nindiya re bindiya tori
ram kasam chedenge sare sare
aaja radhe aaja tohe sham pukare
kabhi ruke kabhi chale radha chori chori
piya kahe aa jiya kahe nahi gori
sham dhale jamuna kinare kinare
aaja radha aaja tohe sham pukare
aaja radha aaja tohe sham pukare
aaja radha aaja tohe sham pukare
aaja radha aaja tohe sham pukare
aaja radha aaja tohe sham pukare

Hi Yuan. TY. Taken by LP from Jaikishan's film Chori Chori tune of "Us paar sajan is paar dharey, le chal o manjhi kinare". It could be possible that Jaikishan took it from another MD or it's a folk made song tune. Either way, it's a nice duet.

Question for all Indian music lovers. What would these songs be, if there was no Urdu? Urdu mixed into Sanskrit, came out the so called "Hindi" language, right? How far would the film industry have gone if all was in "pure" Sanskrit?

@vish2254 Yup. "f@u*K up" this is sanskrit in the "Raw". I have not met "ONE" Indian who would speak it. No civilized Indian speaks sanskrit today. They all have chosen Hindi(extracted from Urdu) as their Supreme language of their land. There would be no film industry ever since it began in 1914 without Hindi(extracted from Urdu). Indians from all parts of India listen to Hindi(extracted from Urdu) music and films. Therefore, Sanskrit is nulled & voided. :-)

The director of the movie, Mr Kishore Sahu, happens to be my Uncle. And I
am truly proud of him and his excellent contribution to the Indian Film
Industry. I remember vividly Mr Raj Kapoor never called Kishore Uncle by
his name -- it was always "Sir" since Kishore Sahu was senior to Raj
Kapoor. Bohot izzat thee un dinon, bohot acchha culture tha-- with art
taking precedence over money. It's the other way round now :( The legendary
movie "Dil Apna Aur Preet Parai" was directed by Kishore Sahu :)

Yuan, I see your note about Shaam and Shyam. I would venture to say that
you are not too far off in the mis-spelling. For one, aside from the
dangers of transliterating Sanskrit words, the word Shaam and Shyam are
etymologically related. After all, Krishna was considered to be so dark
that he appeared blue -- which is the color light at dusk i.e., when the
evening is setting -- the meaning of "Shaam dhale". So, please continue
making such mistakes and posting such beautiful songs. Thanks.

- Thank you my dear [long time] friend for the extremely kind words.
I have made many mistakes in the past but these words are of very sensitive nature since they related to the religion. Hence my small note above.
Thank you again and take care.
