Dwijen Mukherjee was to sing Suhana Safar Aur Yeh Mausam Haseen in film Madhumati. Pressure was mounted on Salil Chowdhury to use Mukesh since Mukesh was singing because no one would use his voice except Raj Kapoor and Raj was not making that many films. So, Dwijen's Hemant Kumarish voice was swept under the rug. Later, Salil did give him two songs in Maya.
