kusupunu on Sunday, November 30, 2008 very nice song-thanks for upload.
V. Siddhartha on Thursday, April 22, 2010 How often don't we encounter such scenes of suffering and treat them with
indifference. We even rationalize them as workings of fate or karma. Yet if
we put gifted actors like Balraj Sahni and Nanda in them and add Lataji's
voice to them, those same scenes become catalysts for awakening us to
compassionate reflections on life's numerous unfairnesses, some of which at
least are amenable to remedial action by us. Thanks, Yuan.
June G on Thursday, April 22, 2010 Thanks for posting this wonderful song by Latha ji.
V. Siddhartha on Thursday, April 22, 2010 @chamogaa. For those who don't know Hindi, the most touching word are in
Nanda's cry to God: What justice have you wrought? You have given a path to
some to walk but stolen their sight, and given sight to others but stolen
their ability to walk. Doesn't one want to reach out and try everything to
help restore Nanda's sight, and buy a wheelchair for the legless man--the
latter precisely because he is undaunted by his disability?
V. Siddhartha on Thursday, April 22, 2010 @chamogaa . Oops ! read "words" for "word" in the second line.
yuanyuanyuanyin on Thursday, April 22, 2010 - Thank you my dear Professor for the beautiful and meaningful comment.
This film was dubbed in to a local language in Sri Lanka as "Sudu Nangi" [Loving Sister], long time back and I was fortunate to watch it few years back so I "understand" what you said in both your comments.
Very sad story and people used to say that many have cried watching the movie at the time!
Thank you again, my dear Professor.
pooji9 on Saturday, April 24, 2010 Yuan I saw "Sudu Nangi" in the theater - way back. I bought the Hindi DVD.
I always thought Sud Nangi meant - fair sister - of course it can be
interpreted as you said as "loving sister" all sinhala songs of this movie
were very popular.
yuanyuanyuanyin on Saturday, April 24, 2010 - Actually, "Fair Sister" is the direct translation but i took the liberty of saying "loving sister" since it is more appropriate!
I have already posted few songs and hoping to post the rest in few days time.
Hope you will enjoy them too.
Take care, y dear friend Pooji.
