Comments for song "Ave Maria Gracia Plena"
tscholent on Saturday, May 07, 2011 @jewelmarkess everybody knows that ...I did not refer to any particular recording...duh.
tscholent on Sunday, May 08, 2011 @jewelmarkess you're not a very careful reader...
jewelmarkess on Sunday, May 08, 2011 @tscholent Maybe, but I find it a bit strange when people keep bringing up Callas (and I do appreciate her artistry) on every singer's videos even on performances of songs or arias that Callas has never sung.
wwrrnut on Sunday, May 08, 2011 A really beautiful song. Brings back memories of my Aunt singing it in our church growing up. You can't beat the acoustics of the old cathedrals.
WJE37FCSM on Monday, May 09, 2011 Not certain if this is the most beautiful rendition ever done but it is certainly right up there. Barbara Bonney? Now another fabulous voice to check out. I love you YouTube. PS your photo choices are fine. Thanks for the posting.
teeger66 on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 I don't know what she's saying.but she says it beautifully!

40warhawkp on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 How wonderful! What a great voice and what a great hymn.
It restoreth my soul.
cloughie1981 on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 Schubert composed this to accompany the poem by the Scottish author Sir Walter Scott 'The Lady of The Lake, published in 1810.
He remarked in a letter to his father
"My new songs from Scott's Lady of the Lake especially had much success. They also wondered greatly at my piety, which I expressed in a hymn to the Holy Virgin and which, it appears, grips every soul and turns it to devotion."
The Ave Maria prayed has been added as a 3rd verse, leaving the work strangely disjointed in English.
cloughie1981 on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 so beautiful
The Lady of the Lake (excerpt) by Sir Walter Scott)
Ave Maria! maiden mild
Listen to a maiden's prayer!
Thou canst hear though from the wild;
Thou canst save amid despair.
Safe may we sleep beneath thy care,
Though banish'd, outcast and reviled -
Maiden! hear a maiden's prayer;
Mother, hear a suppliant child!
Ave Maria
Ave Maria! undefiled!
The flinty couch we now must share
WillBauset on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 this remained me of an episode of Smallville (i think in Season 3) when Lionel Luthor was about to kill himself in his office and with this amazing music it makes it more epic!!! thank you whoever made this amazing music and this song also remained me of my grandma who is now in heaven:'(...
weslyoko on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 Thumbs up if u agree with the title
TripBoomLikeThat on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 @weslyoko It is beautiful, but the description is inaccurate after that. It is not truly an Ave Maria, the songs name is Ellens dritter Gesang, and it is not a rendition but an original.
Nandie1968 on Tuesday, May 10, 2011 Sarah brightman sings also a very nice ave maria... i think the best.
Ms60sChick on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 Beautiful voice, Love this song.

Jshaw155 on Friday, May 13, 2011 so what if its not Maria Callas. It far and away rules!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mercedesgallego66 on Friday, May 13, 2011 The original version is in Latin. During 2000 years was the Occident language.
superzorros5147 on Friday, May 13, 2011 Preciosa, simplemente preciosa, solo disfruta!
Fastallesversteher on Friday, May 13, 2011 @Jshaw155 btw, you know what i mean and i don't "go go" back to school. Hope you're not the other inhabitant of Smallville. And now something for your translator. Ich habe Deinen Kanal gesehen und dein armseliger Hang zur Selbstdarstellung ist erschreckend und die Qualität Deiner musikalischen Darbietungen, lassen sehr zu wünschen übrig. MfG

KSkrode on Sunday, May 15, 2011 Maria Callas doesn't hold a candle to Barbara Bonney. This was gorgeous.
Gargamel380 on Sunday, May 15, 2011 The most beatifull song !!!
xsdrew19 on Monday, May 16, 2011 OP is obviously a homo... and a loser.
Takoushjanik on Monday, May 16, 2011 Whatever it is, whether it was the actual Ave Maria, original or not, it was most beautiful. She truly sang the best. Pavarotti as a male singer was the best too. They are both incredible.
gez555 on Monday, May 16, 2011 Thank you, it is so beautiful, a pure voice.

funkylaw on Thursday, May 19, 2011 THE SINGER IS BARBARA BONNEY...
the lyrics : Ave Maria! Jungfrau mild,
Erhöre einer Jungfrau Flehen,
Aus diesem Felsen starr und wild
Soll mein Gebet zu dir hinwehen.
Wir schlafen sicher bis zum Morgen,
Ob Menschen noch so grausam sind.
O Jungfrau, sieh der Jungfrau Sorgen,
O Mutter, hör ein bittend Kind!
Ave Maria!
funkylaw on Thursday, May 19, 2011 THE SINGER IS BARBARA BONNEY...
yogolito on Saturday, December 08, 2012 it is awesome... but isn't latin :/
Valdakyr on Saturday, December 08, 2012 The text is based on Walter Scotts poem Lady of the Lake. Adam Storck translated it into German language and Franz Schubert composed this beautiful melody upon this translation. This is the original text which differs from the one given by the uploader (however, the uploaders translation better matches the german version - sounds a bit weird, but Storck translated in a poet's way rather than doing a word by word translation.).
